Versions of this eccentric utensil can be found on the tables of this culture's aristocracy. A stone-bearing fruit is placed underneath the removable, conical sheath. Then the lid, along with the fruit, is pressed down over the eight sets of blades, simultaneously slicing the fruit and leaving the pit cradled in the ring atop.
